NYES Featured in Comprehensive Journal News Article on New York’s Clean Energy Needs

New York Transco and our New York Energy Solution transmission upgrade project were featured in  the August 4, 2021, issue of the Journal News, a member of the USA Today network based in Westchester County, NY. The article comprehensively covered New York’s changing energy landscape as efforts shift toward a zero-carbon future.

“The AC Transmission project will be the biggest upgrade of transmission lines in the state in 40 years, designed to help New York achieve its clean-energy goals — 70 percent reliance on renewables in 10 years and zero carbon emissions in 20,” wrote veteran investigative reporter Tom Zambito.

“If all goes as planned, in two years high-powered lines moving twice the voltage of the ones they replace will help the state clear the biggest hurdle preventing the downstate region from going green — an energy bottleneck south of Albany.”
