NYES Project Highlighted in USA Today Network Article

New York Transco’s New York Energy Solution (NYES) electric transmission modernization project was recently highlighted in a USA Today Network article for being months ahead of schedule at a time when many electric transmission projects are bogged down in regulatory and legal challenges, or community opposition.

The article, by veteran investigative reporter Tom Zambito, is headlined, “NY isn't building power transmission lines fast enough, leaving energy goals in jeopardy.”

New York Transco President Vic Mullin and Vice President Paul Haering talk in the article about the company’s decision to build the NYES project (referred to in the article by its regulatory name, “The AC Transmission Project”) within an existing transmission corridor to minimize community concerns and cost, as well as Transco’s willingness to seek and incorporate feedback from local government officials and project neighbors before and during construction.

Due in large part to these efforts, and the hard work and professionalism of the members of IBEW Local 1249, the NYES project is on pace for full energization this summer rather than the end of the year as originally scheduled.
